Renewal Fees

Renewal fees are payable in respect of standard and innovation patents and applications.

No renewal fees are due on Provisional applications.

For standard applications and patents renewal fees are first due five years from the filing date and then every year afterwards.

For innovation applications and patents renewal fees are due two years after the filing date and then every year afterwards.

If the renewal fee is not paid then the application or patent will lapse. Renewal fees may be paid up to 6 months late but with additional fees.

After 6 months restoration is possible at the discretion of the Patent Office, but not if the owner had merely changed its mind.
