The official fees charged by the European Patent Office (EPO) increased on 1 April 2008. Generally, all the fees increased by about 5-10%. However, the claim fees at filing and the renewal fees increased by more than this.

As of 1 April 2008 the base filing fee will cover 15 claims but the excess claims fee increases to €200.00 (about AU$330.00)

Renewal fees also increase on 1 April 2008 by between 18 and 55%. However, if the renewal fee is paid late, the late fee payable will be 50% of the renewal fee, not 10% as at present.
